The Eastern Coachella Valley faces a severe shortage of affordable housing for its residents, forcing many families to live in under-serviced mobile home parks. To address this crisis, KDI is partnering with Abode Communities, an award-winning Southern California affordable housing developer, to design and build a 153-unit affordable housing development in the City of Coachella.

KDI will lead the community engagement and participatory design process for the development, as well as serve as the Landscape Architect for the project. Amenities will include 50,000 square feet of open space, an outdoor pavilion, a play area, and more, ensuring that the development meets the diverse needs of the community.

The project is expected to launch in 2018 and has a 4-5 year development timeline.
